- Folyóméteres cipzár
A zárt végű kész cipzárakat előre beállított méretekben tudjuk megvenni a folyóméteres cipzárat ellentettében nagy tekercsben forgalmazzák. Ez különösen akkor hasznos, ha nagy párnák vagy speciális méret kell és így saját magunk szabhatjuk ki a megfelelő méretet. Ezen felül sokkal gazdaságosabb is.
Csak vágjuk le a szükséges hosszúságot, majd varjuk el az alját. Ezután csak a húzókát kell felhelyeznünk amihez mindenkinek meg van a saját technikája vagy trükkje. Folyóméteres cipzárral kapcsolatban határozott előnye a kocsi külön megvásárlása, mert így mi dönthetjük el milyen kinézetű húzókát szeretnénk felhelyezni. A kész cipzáraknál általában a választék jóval kevesebb.

Cipzárak fajta szerint
A cipzárak három különböző csoportra bonthatjuk fajta (nézet) szerint- spirál, műanyag, fém
- Spirál cipzár
A spirál cipzárak talán a legnépszerűbb és legsokoldalúbb cipzár fajta. A fogak nejlonból vagy poliészterből készülnek, amelyeket beleszőnek a szalagba. A felépítése nagyon rugalmas. Ez nagyszerű választást jelent kötött dzsekik vagy más könnyű projektek számára ahol fontos a rugalmasság ezért is kifejezetten elterjedt táska cipzárként. A fogak textúrája sokkal finomabb, mint a műanyag vagy fém cipzáraké ami jó választás ahol nem akarjuk, hogy a cipzár kiemelkedjen vagy nagyobb feltűnést keltsen.
- Műanyag cipzár
Az fröccsöntött műanyag cipzárnál a fogakat öntik és közvetlenül a cipzár szalagjára olvasztják. A fogak alakja kissé merevebb, mint a spirál cipzáraké. Az öntött műanyag cipzár kiválóan alkalmas munkaruházatoz kabátokhoz pulóverekhez. Tartósságban a spirál cipzárak mögött vannak a műanyag cipzárak. Kinézetük kirívóbb és masszívabb. A fogak mintázata miatt hívják „farkas fogú” cipzárnak is.
- Fém cipzár
A fém cipzáraknak fém fogaik vannak, amelyek a cipzár szalagjára vannak rögzítve. Ez hihetetlenül tartóssá teszi őket. Kiválóan alkalmasak nagy teherbírású kabátok, táskák és bőrprojektek készítésére. A cipzár rendkívül tartós sőt a legtartósabb az összes közül viszont ezeket a cipzárakat valamilyen szinten karban is kell tartani. Hajlamosak sok mosás vagy eső esetén akadozni, ezért egy kis olajozás rájuk tud férni. A másik hátulütője a cipzár súlya. Sajnos a fém cipzárak nehezebbek mint a műanyag vagy spirál változatok. Ha lényeges tényező a végtermék tömege akkor lehet el kell gondolkozni más alternatíván.

- Rejtett cipzár
Igaz azt írtam 3 fajta cipzár van de most még egy + hozzáadok, ez a rejtett cipzár. A fogazata a cipzárnak igazából spirál csak azzal a különbséggel hogy kívülről nézve nem látszik mert a a húzózár vászna eltakarja. A szoknyáknál nadrágnál és olyan ruházatoknál szokták használni ahol lényeges, hogy a cipzár takarva legyen és ne csúfítsa az összképet.

Cipzár méretek
Ha cipzár választásnál vagy javításnál valami problémát szokott okozni akkor az általában a helyes méret kiválasztása. Tapasztalatom által néha még a legtájékozottabbak is nehezen tudják melyik cipzár kellene nekik,de főleg javításnál bonyolódnak bele a különböző nemzetközi és Magyar megnevezésekbe. Sajnos itthon sokszor használunk olyan megnevezéseket amik csak kis hazánkban honosak és régről maradtak ránk. Ezek szokták okozni a legnagyobb problémát, mert néha mindenki más nemzetközi méretet sorol a Magyar megfelelőhöz.
A cipzárak mellet általában látható egy # szimbólum és egy szám. Ez a szám a cipzárfogak méretére utal, a fogak egyik élétől a másikig mérve. Ezek a számok a nemzetközi skálán No3-No10 ig terjednek. A magyar nyelvben általában azzal a kifejezéssel találkozunk, hogy RT0,RT10,GT10,VT10 és talán van még sok más amiről még én se halottam. Egy táblázat formájába megpróbálom helyrerakni és egy útmutatót adni a magyar és nemzetközi cipzár méretek közt.
Kis ruháknál és kis táskáknál inkább No3/RT0 cipzárat szokták használni és a nagyobb méreteket mint a No5/No7/RT10 munkaruhákhoz és nagyobb táskákhoz. Minél nagyobb a szám a cipzárnál annál nagyobb lesz a fogak és a vászon mérete is.

Összefoglaló
Remélem sikerült mindent elég tisztán elmagyaráznom a cipzárak világáról. A legfontosabb mindig a helyes méret kiválasztása, értem itt a cipzár vastagságot. Tapasztalatom által látom,hogy sokszor használnak készítők vékonyabb cipzárakat olyan helyekre ahol fontos lenne egy vastag cipzár. A fenti cipzár méret táblázat segít eligazodni a méretek között.
